Entry #1 in the Captain's Log
Wind: North-West, light
Rain: None to speak of -forecast for Friday.
Our 1/3-acre yard will become a hobby farm. The intent is to grow as much of my produce and grains as possible in addition to beautiful flowers and medicinal herbs. I consider myself to be re-wilding my postage-stamp of land.
I planted a montmorency cherry tree, a plum, and a peach. I also planted six black raspberry bushes and a red gooseberry.
Here is the fenced-off installation of two 4x8 raised beds off the gachtl (kitchen garden). The raised beds are planted with a double-row each of peas. One bed will be used for early season vegetables while the other will be used for summer vegetables. Carrots, beets, leeks and salad greens are planted in a 1'x4' section of one of the beds every two weeks.
The summer vegetables; tomatoes, eggplant, and hungarian wax peppers; are germinating inside and will go into the ground in May.
A small plot has been created on top of a leaf pile and dedicated to wild flowers.
I have big plans for this place. Follow my adventure.
